Gibson – smuggling exotic woods

For years, Gibson has allied itself with Greenpeace and other environmental groups to show it was serious about preserving forests.

That didn’t stop them from illegally importing exotic wood species to make their guitars. Gibson factories have been raided twice by federal agents (most recently one last week) who say they have found fraudulently labeled ebony imported from India.

Many environmental groups are outraged, saying it is completely unnecessary to use exotic wood for guitars. Infact, it is unnecessary to use any wood at all.

Rob Kunstadt, president of Born To Rock Design Incorporated, wrote “The reason that Gibson uses exotic wood is that their guitar designs are technologically outdated. They keep repeating the same old designs from the last century, so-called “vintage” guitars. They try to convince guitarists that you have to use wood for a guitar, as if it were Chippendale furniture.”

Bristol Entertainment wants to know how you feel about Gibson’s attempt to smuggle exotic woods into the country for their guitars!

  1. So right, save the trees! We don’t need wood to make a quality guitar. Just use a petrolium product. Synthetics based on petrolium are much more flamable, combustable and toxic to the environment. That is why they should be used. The sooner we can rid the planet of humans that pollute the sooner the plants can take over.
